Cardiff Metropolitan University

On November 1, 2011, the college officially became Cardiff Metropolitan University. In 1996, the college received university status and became known as the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC). Before this Cardiff University was known as the Institute of Higher Education. In 1992 it gained independence from the local council. The history of the university dates back as far as 1865 with the opening of the School of Art in the city center of Cardiff. Art School merged with Cardiff Training College, Cardiff College of Food Technology and Trade and Llandaff Technical College in 1976 as South Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education. This institution occupied the same sites offered similar vocational subjects as it does today Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Cardiff Metropolitan University campus operates from three schools in Cardiff (Llandaff, Cyncoed and Howard Gardens) with one additional campus residence halls on the campus of Plas Gwyn. All located in the city of Cardiff, with excellent road links via the M4. Train connections and public transport provide access to shopping, nightlife and leisure activities. Students have access to a dedicated bus service between all campus and the city center via bus service Rider University. Research and service companies engaged in research at the interface of new knowledge creation and application. The research has direct application in business, industry, the professions and the community in general. Research areas include Art and Design, Education, Health Sciences, Management, Product Design (PDR) and Sport. The results of the Research Assessment Exercise 2008 (RAE 2008) recognized the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff Met successful in supporting the development of world-class research, especially in art and design.

The Cardiff School of Sport is a recognized center of excellence in the UK. The Cardiff School of Management offers a wide range of programs in Accounting, Economics and Finance; Business, Management and Marketing; Computer and Information Systems and Tourism, Hospitality and Events. Cardiff School of Education has an enviable reputation for excellence available in Teacher Education (primary and secondary), Humanities, including English, creative writing, and contemporary media.
The Cardiff School of Health Sciences has strengths in offering professionally accredited in biomedical science, dental technology, dietetics, environmental health, science and technology of food, housing, podiatry, psychology, social work and therapy programs speech and language. The Cardiff School of Art & Design has been at the center of creativity in Cardiff for more than 140 years. This long-standing position has allowed the school to become a contemporary, dynamic and creative establishment enjoying a strong position with their counterparts across the UK and beyond. We offer facilities of the highest level for our students and staff. In all campuses offer first class libraries and learning centers, print studies and support services. Our goal is to provide students with a safe learning environment and supportive. student facilities, learning centers and Cardiff Met provisions are constantly being updated and revised to satisfy student insurance not just met, but exceeded expectations. Library users have direct access to a global share of about 270,000 books and 1,000 journals.
