New  3 Wheeler Rickshaws  in Pakistan

The traders and rickshaw drivers’ unions have expressed concern over the influx of illegal rickshaws in the provincial metropolis and demanded the government to check the rapid increase in the three-wheelers that have caused traffic congestion in the city.
Addressing a joint news conference, representatives of the rickshaw drivers union, Baz Mohammad, Qamar Gul Afridi and Ezzat Khan said that the government had lifted ban on various kinds of rickshaws, leading to a surge in number of the vehicles in the city.
They said the government had started issuing them a letter to allow them to ply the roads. They said hundreds of rickshaws were being transported to the city from Quetta on a daily basis. They said they had submitted a letter to Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, requesting him to check the increasing rickshaws and launch a crackdown against the unregistered vehicles and those having no permits, but to no avail.
Baz Mohammad said currently a total of 25,000 rickshaws were formally registered with the authorities, while another 20,000 unregistered ones were plying the city roads. They demanded the government to take notice of the issue and get the people rid of the traffic congestion.
